There are restrictions on the passengers who can enter Egypt at this time. Please check the requirements before you travel.
If you’re travelling to Egypt, you will need to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test and submit a health declaration form before arrival.
COVID-19 PCR testing and other entry requirements
All passengers except vaccinated passengers need to carry a printed negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test certificate from an accredited lab in English or Arabic for a test taken within 72 hours before the departure of their final direct flight to Egypt. The printed COVID-19 RT-PCR test certificate must be original and must be stamped by the laboratory/hospital and contain a clear readable QR code with relevant passenger details. The certificate must also have the following information:
Full name of the passenger
Passport number
The date and time the sample was taken
Details of the type of sample taken for the swab
Passengers who do not have a stamp and a QR code on their test certificate will deported back to their point of origin.
The COVID-19 RT-PCR test certificate must also not have any modifications or alterations (e.g. addition or deletion).
Note:
Acceptance of the following test certificates:
ID Now covid-19 test / Antigen Rapid Test - electronic paper containing QR code with the ability to verify data with a barcode reader
- At most 24 hours before arriving Egypt
Also, please ensure that a certificate does not contain any modifications or changes (such as additions or deletions).
In case that the vaccination certificate or the examination certificate carried by the passenger does not match so an Antigone Rapid Test will be to detect the Corona virus for arrival passengers. In case of a positive examination, the following is done:
- For the Egyptians, the case is evaluated, and in the absence of symptoms or minor symptoms, the passenger will be home quarantine for 10 days, and in the case of moderate or severe symptoms, they are transferred to the hospital.
- For non-Egyptians, the examination is confirmed using the ID NOW test, and in case the test is positive, the traveler will return to the country from which he came.
For those arriving at (Sharm El-Sheikh - Hurghada - Taba - Marsa Alam - Luxor - Aswan)
- The person who is coming must has a certificate of covid-19 vaccination or a certificate stating that the examination is negative for covid-19 by any of the examinations approved by the Ministry of Health and Population in accordance with the conditions laid down in this regard and in the case that the vaccination certificate or the certificate does not match The examination carried by the passenger for the established controls An Antigone Rapid Test will be done to detect the Corona virus.
- And in the case of a positive test, they are allowed to self- quarantine in the residence hotel for a period of 5 days, with a PCR test done on day 6 to check the results in case negative they are allowed to end the quarantine and in case it is positive it will continue for other 5 days and then will be end without making another examination.
All passengers, irrespective of their vaccination status, who have been in or transited/ transferred through Argentina, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Bhutan, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela and Vietnam in the past 14 days from the date of arrival in Egypt will be subject to an "ID Now COVID-19 test" on arrival in Egypt. Now testing will be borne by the passenger and has to be paid upon arrival in Egypt.Passengers with a positive COVID-19 ID Now test result will perform another COVID-19 PCR test and will remain at the airport until the test result is received. In case the second test result is also returned positive, the passenger will then be transferred to a government hospital and standard COVID-19 protocols will be applicable.
All passengers from Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, New Zealand, North America and South America, who are transiting through London Heathrow, Paris, Rome and Frankfurt may present a COVID-19 PCR test certificate for a test taken no more than 96 hours before their arrival in Egypt.
Once the passenger departs Egypt, the COVID-19 PCR certificate will be considered expired and not valid for a return flight to Egypt (the certificate cannot be reused).
Required forms
All passengers must complete a health declaration form that will be provided on board the aircraft or at Airport. Forms are also available from Egyptian tourism companies and their international counterparts.
Exemptions
Children below 12 years old are exempted from the negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate requirement.
Vaccinated Passengers:
Passengers who have been vaccinated are exempted from the negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate, provided they present proof that they have received the required doses of the following vaccines authorized by Egyptian ministry of Health & Population:
- Two doses of Pfizer
- Two doses of Oxford AstraZeneca
- Two doses of Moderna
- Two doses of Sinopharm
- Two doses of Sinovac
- Two doses of Sputnik V
- One dose of Johnson & Johnson
Vaccine certificates must be certified by official health authorities of the country of vaccination, and not less than 14 days have passed since the last dose (the second dose of a two dose vaccine or the first dose of a single dose vaccine) was administered before traveling to Egypt.
Other information
Passengers arriving from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Madagascar and Yemen need to submit an international vaccine certificate of Polio IPV vaccine through injections taken 4 days before arrival or 12 months at most. Passengers arriving from Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa, Chad, Congo Republic – Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote D Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Islamic Republic of Iran, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan and Togo need to submit an information form of vaccination of Polio through injections before arriving to Egypt form taken within 4 weeks to 12 months. Above is applicable for passengers arriving to Egypt directly from the mentioned countries or via transit and will be effective immediately regardless the age of the traveler. Exception: Egyptian nationals may travel to Cairo without the polio vaccine, provided they take the vaccine on arrival in Cairo.
