Cairo, Egypt – March 4, 2024 – AirCairo, Egypt's leading low-cost carrier, announced the appointment of Captain Ahmed Shannan as its new Chairman and Managing Director, effective March 5, 2024.

Captain Shannan succeeds Mr. Hussein Sherif, who stepped down after a successful four-year tenure during which AirCairo achieved numerous accomplishments across all levels of the company.

The appointment ceremony took place at AirCairo's headquarters in Cairo and was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Civil Aviation. The Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Sherif for his efforts in advancing the company during his four years at the helm and wished the new management team, led by Captain Shannan, success and prosperity.

Captain Shannan previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of AirCairo and is an ICAO-approved trainer. He also held the position of General Manager of Safety and Quality at the company. Notably, Captain Shannan was one of the key leaders who contributed to AirCairo's achievements over the past four years.

Captain Shannan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Sherif for leading the company during the most challenging four years in its history. This period laid the solid foundation and structure for future success and development.

He affirmed the continuation of AirCairo's successful journey and strategy of expansion, development of safety, quality, and profitability standards. He also thanked His Excellency the Minister of Civil Aviation, and the Board of Directors for their trust.
